Exploring Edinburgh

Number 1 on 2017 goals – TICK! Wow what a weekend… My first ever flight! I loved every second of it, experiencing new things and stepping outside my comfort zone I came back feeling more confident and self assured that I can do more! We booked through Lastminute.com and managed to get a flights and hotel deal which worked for us timings and location wise. We picked a morning flight up and evening flight back so we could use the whole 3 days to the max (even though it snowed each day!) Once the rain and snow had cleared the sunshine came out and oh boy what a beaut Edinburgh is! We spent a couple of hours pondering about getting our feelers for where things were, then headed into the Scottish National Portrait Gallery to dodge the sudden pouring rain! Over the weekend we also attended the National Museum of Scotland which was so good and an easy way to lose a couple of hours walking through the history of Scotland and around the world. We also went to the Museum of Childhood however there wasn’t much I recognised! But it was interesting to see how toys have developed.
* Side note * Big ups to Edinburgh for their public transport! We managed to get everywhere with minimal stress by tram, and with one being at a stop every 5/10 minutes we were never left waiting long!
In true Joey and Chandler style we went on the Edinburgh Tour bus – a relaxing way to get around and see the sights. Buying this ticket actually came in really handy and I would definitely recommend getting one as it provides travel for 24 hours meaning the next day we could get the bus to Edinburgh Castle without having to walk miles from our hotel and pay for more transport.
We stayed at the Palmerston Suites which was wonderful, we had a lovely big room and a kitchen!!
The flight home was rather bumpy and more turbulent than the flight up but we landed safely and headed home.
I had such a great weekend, and so many memories made in just 3 days! I can’t wait to get planning more trips!!
Have you got any holidays planned?
